Megadeth just rolled through Sacramento leaving eight hundred very happy people in their wake. These people only had to strip naked and perform lewd acts for Sacramento's only station that rocks 98 Rock. Ok, the naked thing wasn't mandatory to get tickets to this premiere record release party, but you did have to listen to 98 Rock or visit the KRXQ web site to get to this show. Megadeth fans all over the nation have been privy to the new song "Moto Psycho" via radio broadcast and 98 Rock was able to give its loyal listeners this super payback. All these lucky folks had to do was listen to KRXQ for "Moto Psycho," call in and win tickets to the Megadeth party. I think that's a pretty exclusive kickdown, you can't even buy tickets to a private function like this. It turned out to be the most awesome and exclusive thing I could have imagined. The evening began with a chance to hear Megadeth's coming Sanctuary Records album release "The World Needs A Hero" in its entirety two weeks before the rest of the world. As soon as the last chords of the album faded out, Megadeth was introduced and the concert began in a volley of screams and a blazing flash of lights. At least two hundred cameras were strobing the room in the hands of crazed fans who have been encouraged to have as much fun as is humanly possible. The loud grinding sound you would expect when seeing Megadeth suddenly turned into the sweet sound of acoustic guitars being pelted with Megadeth's signature licks. They played a mix of unreleased material from the coming album and some Megadeth classics that cannot be denied like "Symphony of Destruction." Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellifson were phenomenal on acoustic guitar and acoustic bass and Mustaine's vocals was so clean and obtrusive the brain was in shock, staggered by the acoustical force of Megadeth.
