Oh! The city, such sights, such sounds, oh, such smells!! I have to admit, I never look forward to walking the streets of San Francisco at night with a bunch of really expensive camera gear either. But, the energy at shows in the city is always pumped, and that makes for good music. So, what's the 411 on this band 311? Well, I went to check them out when they hit the city on this present tour of our great nation. It seems, they rock. Some hard rhythms and some bump and grind. Sounds from an industrial park, like heavy machinery at times and all this wonderful noise from just guitars and drums. The show was opened by Zebrahead. Flashy outfits and hairdo to match the band name. Great opening act, that's a hard line to draw there. Some bands don't perform well live, so they get an opening act that just plain sucks to ensure their performance won't get shown up. This was not the case here at the Warfield on this evening. Zebrahead raised the roof for Three Eleven and then 311 brought the house down.
Zebrahead was significantly more mainstream then Three Eleven, both bands with very different sounds and styles. Zebrahead will be opening for 311 on this whole tour which is driving through the plains and then heading down to Texas for several dates. Things should be really cooking for 311 when they hit cajun country and jam at the Voodoo Music Festival with co-headliners Stone Temple Pilots, Counting Crows, Live, Blues Traveler, Galactic, and many more. This great event is happening on October 28, 2000 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Don't miss it y'all. This tour has already sold out six shows, so don't wait to get your tickets, or you'll be buying them from a scalper. This show was billed all ages, but I didn't see too many people over thirty five at this event. I was surprised to see how many young people were allowed out of the house at night in the city. Times change ever so quickly, my mom would have never let me go downtown at night. Let's keep our children safe out there, it takes a village to raise child. I made it home safe, and I do hope that everyone else in attendance made it home safely as well. Thanks for reading and we'll see ya at the shows.
